A steakhouse branded by its owners as the “North East’s finest” is coming soon to Norton. Meet at 12 has taken over one of the village’s best-loved eateries and given it a stylish revamp.
The former 12 Harland Place has had a “full rip-out”, to create an “authentic Spanish charcoal grill”, a stylish cocktail lounge and roof terrace. Businessman Barry Faulkner, who also owns the Middlesbrough Empire and a number of other Teesside venues, has confirmed the team is aiming for an early July opening.
Meet at 12 will be serving “exceptional grill food” and “premium creative cocktails” which, if taken upstairs, can be “enjoyed with a view”. The venue was granted planning approved for the transformation last year, including an impressive roof terrace area, after owners said they felt it was “long overdue” a refurbishment.

“We don’t do things by halves and have some grand plans in the pipeline,” they said at the time. Hannah Beadle, from Meet at 12, added: “We’ll be serving a European, Mediterranean based menu using responsibly, locally sourced supplies. Our chefs have worked really hard building relationships, to make sure we get the absolute best of the best.
“And the same goes for the kitchen equipment we have fitted. There was a big following for Harland Place, it was like a big family. We want to keep that vibe.
“The terrace has had a full revamp, there’s lots more space, upstairs has had a full revamp, it’s quite impressive.”
