Wilcher recruiting fellow five-star prospect

The two current five-star players committed to the UNC basketball recruiting Class of 2023 are working on adding another one to the mix.

With Simeon Wilcher and Gregory “GG” Jackson, two five-star players, already committed to the UNC basketball recruiting Class of 2023, Hubert Davis and his staff have gotten off to a great start with this respective group.

However, even though the Tar Heels are very happy to have two five-star talents heading to Chapel Hill, it doesn’t seem as if they are done adding to this class just yet.

As we’ve seen recently with Armando Bacot, the players are certainly not afraid to recruit other top talents to the UNC basketball program. This goes for incoming recruits as well, as the duo of Wilcher and Jackson are looking to help lure in another top 10 prospect from their graduating class.

Wilcher recently made an appearance on “The Front Office Podcast,” where he was asked about whether he was helping with recruiting efforts. The Roselle, New Jersey native said that he and Jackson are actively recruiting Matas Buzelis, the No. 4 ranked player from the Class of 2023 according to 247 Sports.

“Matas. That’s who we are trying to get. We are trying to get Matas. Matas would complete, I wouldn’t say complete but that will be a force to reckon with. Especially with Seth [Trimble] and all those guys that will be there when we get there, I think it will just all work out. We really have a chance to win it, instead of falling short.”

It seems as if Wilcher is thinking ahead, as he believes that Buzelis would be one of the missing pieces that would fit perfectly with the players the Tar Heels already have brought into the fold. From Wilcher’s comments, it seems as if he believes the UNC basketball program has a pretty good chance of luring him to Chapel Hill.

For a prospect recruit, there’s a lot to like about North Carolina. Not only are they coming off a tremendous run to the NCAA Tournament championship game, but also have returned the majority of their impact players from that team.

Additionally, the program possesses two very good upcoming recruiting classes that are making their way to campus. With the veteran players on the current roster heading towards the ends of their collegiate careers, there will be plenty of opportunities for the new players to thrive in Davis’ system.

It’s pretty safe to say that Tar Heels fans are hopeful that the duo of Wilcher and Jackson could help the UNC basketball recruiting class get even stronger by adding a player of Matas Buzelis’ caliber.

Without a doubt, this potential trio would certainly be fun to watch.
